Grid Rpc, Events and Messaging Gwd-i (informational)

چکیده
This document is motivated by the need for a remote procedure call (RPC) mechanism for grid environments. Grid applications can certainly be built by using explicit message-passing which is, in turn, based on low-level, network communication mechanisms. An RPC mechanism, however, provides a programming abstraction that is at least "one step" higher than simple message-passing. Rather than explicitly marshalling arguments, identifying the intended recipient, and sending a message, RPC allows the user to specify an operation as a typed procedure call with typed arguments. This provides the user with a more consistent programming model since an RPC is semantically closer to other procedure calls.

DIRAC Lightweight Information and Monitoring Services using XML-RPC and Instant Messaging
This paper presents recent work on a scalable, lightweight approach for distributed information and monitoring systems done for the LHCb experiment’s DIRAC grid software package. Two complementary systems are presented, one based on a layered, DNS-like information service, and the other a monitoring mechanism using instant messaging for ad hoc networks which are formed in a grid environment. Th...

متن کاملA Framework of Online Community based Expertise Information Retrieval on Grid
Web-based online communities such as blogs, forums and scientific communities have become important places for people to seek and share expertise. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, Live etc. are not yet capable to address queries that require deep semantic understanding of the query or the document. Instead, it may be preferable to find and ask someone who has related expertise or experien...
متن کاملCheating the I/O Bottleneck: Network Storage with Trapeze/Myrinet
Recent advances in I/O bus structures (e.g., PCI), highspeed networks, and fast, cheap disks have significantly expanded the I/O capacity of desktop-class systems. This paper describes a messaging system designed to deliver the potential of these advances for network storage systems including cluster file systems and network memory. We describe gms net, an RPClike kernel-kernel messaging system...

Six generations of RPC systems can be distinguished including Federated Method Invocation (FMI) presented in this paper. Some of them— CORBA, Java RMI, and Web/OGSA services—support distributed objects. However, creating object wrappers implementing remote interfaces doesn’t have a great deal to do with object-oriented distributed programming. Distributed objects developed that way are usually ...
